3 Morteros
The gesture of grinding has not changed for more than 8000 years. From then until now, mortars have been present in all the kitchens of mankind.
A prehistoric gesture. It is interesting to think how a person from the Neolithic period, without having the psyche to come up with great ideas, developed this gesture as an act of survival. So after this influence and seeing all the vanguard technology, I wanted to bet on the analogical in this project, making us reflect if we are really losing something along the way. An analogical project to develop an analogical product linked to tradition. A collection of three mortars.
Three stone tools that reflect an ancient gesture, creating a sensory ritual, connection and closeness to food. Three almost sculptural forms with a primitive-sophisticated aspect. ‘3 Morteros’ is a collection designed especially for @hermanostorres , to improve the diner's experience within the restaurant Cocina Hermanos Torres. Involving the diner in the creation of what s/he will then taste, causes a change of perception. We will add to the gratitude, a self-gratifying feeling for having been part of it, however small it may be.
The final pieces are made with natural material, stone. These have been made in collaboration with @barbany_artesans, who has turned this project into a palpable reality.
