Paper Knife

The continuity of form

This was one of the first projects I did when I started my design degree at Elisava. The briefing that was proposed to us was to make a letter opener with an anodized sheet metal.

The Paper Knife letter opener is designed looking for simplicity in a single continuous form. For this reason, I decided to look for a simple figure, a triangle. So, this is part of an isosceles triangle, which is deformed at its base. This deformation follows a whole study of grip in the action of opening a letter, so that our interaction with this product is instinctive, easy and pleasant. The formalisation of this idea has been carried out with an anodised aluminium sheet.
